G H Jonson suck&How
to select furniture store
My wife and I had a very bad experience with G H Jonson
for the furniture we ordered from them including two dressers,
one small table, one sofa, and two matching chairs. There were
so many pitfalls with G.H. Johnson¡¯s service and delivery. And
in order to solve our problem we have to sue G H Jonson, and finally they set down the law suit
with us by changing
the sofa for us. We are not happy with this solution but it seems that we
get no choice since law
suit need a lot of time.
But we decide to share our experience online to warn any people
who is considering to buy furniture from G H Johnson. To be fair
with G H Jonson we will just list the facts of our story. G H
Jonson has asked us to close this website, but we believe it is
our right to tell our story. You can also go to
www.redflagdeals.com
a shopping forum to search ¡°G H Jonson¡± you will
find out that some people have the same experience as us.
1) First it is the delivery guys. For the smaller dresser
we ordered, they kept sending us the wrong model twice and only
got it right the third time. The
delivery guys would not want to listen what
was wrong with the furniture they delivered. They always asked
us to keep the furniture and call G.H. Johnson later to solve
our problems. We also had to insist on the delivery guys
assembling the furniture for us. G.H Johnson¡¯s delivery guys
were not happy with the request although that was part of the
service we purchased. In addition the delivery guys were also
not very careful when they moved furniture around my house, and
they have made a long dent on my new hardwood floor when they
moved the sofa.
2) Second, it is the poor quality of the products and horrible
customer service.
We ordered a sofa and two chairs two and half months ago, total
cost $2938, we paid full amount upfront. Around two month later,
our order arrived but there are quality issues. The color of the
chairs was not what we have ordered for and is different from
the color of the sofa. The cushions of the sofa are made of foam
with different density. We notified the delivery personnel right
on the spot the quality issues but they refused to take the
products back. We contacted the store the same day but G.H.
Johnson¡¯s sales people were not responsive to our complaint. We
have to keep calling them .
For the period between Sep 18,2008 and Oct 11, 2008, none of the
sales people we¡¯ve talked to has give us any positive assurance
that how they plan to solve the problem for us. The customer
service manager Mark even didn¡¯t even show up for the
appointment we had with him for furniture inspection, and
wouldn¡¯t even bother to pick up his cell phone. Therefore, we
visited G.H Johnson on Oct 11.2008 ask for a discount or refund.
The sales people told us they have done nothing wrong, even
through they did not check the sofa we ordered and delivery a
wrong products. Therefore, they refused to let us return the
products and give us 100% refund. Also they asked us to contact
the manufacturer on our own if we want to negotiate any
discounts on the products. When we complained to the manager Pat the bad service experiences
we had with the store, he insulted us by pointing at our noses,
threatened to call the police and chased us out of the store.
Our Lesson from this
experience: How to select furniture store
1.
Most
important never pay 100% upfront for any thing. Because
after that you are hooked, and you are in a very bad
position to negotiate a fair solution if anything happened. Even
you paid by credit card after 60days it will be very hard to
dispute the charge.
2.
Before you sign the
sales contract read and ask the sales person to tell you all the
terms, especially the warranty, exchange, refund terms. Most of
the sales guy will not tell you anything about this, but be very
careful for those terms.
3.
For the sale contract
make sure it list the key specification of your order such as
¡°color¡±, ¡°style¡±, ¡°material¡±. Bottom line is if anything goes wrong
latter you have a paper to prove you did not get what you paid
for.
4.
Do the inspection of
the furniture when it is delivered, do not sign anything if
there is a problem, and insist the store to take the furniture
back.
5.
Try to buy furniture
from big stores, they usually have better service.
6.
If you are not happy
with the deal, you have some rights according to the consumer
protection acts
http://www.gov.on.ca/mgs/en/ConsProt/STEL02_167849.html.
